August 2012:
On August 18, 2012, a team of riders
mounted their horses in Sonoma, California and headed for the
Mexican border via 21 California missions. On Thursday Sept. 6th,
they stopped at the Marina Equestrian Center for an overnight stay
and a Tri Tip Dinner that was cooked and served by the Central Coast
CERT Association. Special thanks to Shane and Jennifer Edgar for the
use of the BBQ's and especially the Homemade Sugar Shane Sauce! It
was a big hit!

May
19, 2012: Central Coast CERT was asked by CSUMB to provide First
Aid for the 2012 Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 19, 2012. We
had a cut finger, a scraped knee, a swollen finger and sun screen in
the eyes. We had more requests for band aids for blisters from new
shoes. Events like this are a great way to use the medical skills
that we have learned. A big thanks to Richard, Gale, Wayne, Rhonda
and David! We will be back for the Graduating
class of 2013!

September 23-25, 2011: There were 75 in attendance at this years
Disaster By The Bay, representing CERT teams from Sacramento, West
Sacramento, Elk Grove/Galt, Monterey, Pacific Grove and Pebble
Beach.
Day 1:
CERT teams arrived on scene (CERT
City). A night search was conducted until 10pm
Day 2:
CERT teams responded to Del Monte
Beach to search for victims of the mock tsunami. 16 people were
rescued and triaged. There were several lessons learned from this
scenario. Thank you to Monterey Department of Parks and Recreation
for the use of the city beach and parking lot.
Teams were then dispatched to CERT
City, where upon arrival, IC was established and teams were
assembled (search and rescue, triage and animal rescue). A search
dog was used to locate 2 victims and the rest of the victims were
removed and taken to the triage area and treated by the CERT teams.
All teams returned to the staging area for an after-action briefing
where one injury was reported. Thank you to Waste Management, Tom's
Portable Toilets, Sharon Dwight of Monterey CERT, CSUMB (California
State University Monterey Bay) and Commander John Short.
This was a great experience for all
who participated and we look forward to seeing everyone again next
year.
